Arsenal waltz through to the semis of Champions League

An aggressive display of attacking football saw Arsenal cruise through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. The Gunners success in the competition has come from a solid defence, which is still to concede in five home matches in the current European campaign, although it was their clinical finishing at the other end that proved to much for their Spanish visitors to handle.

After taking the initiative in last weeks tie in Spain, well-constructed goals early on in each half from Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Adebayor left the away side reeling, Robin Van Persie adding a third from the spot after Sebastian Eguren hadbeen sent off.

Arsenal Now have a meeting with holders Manchester United FC to look forward to – the fourth all English semi-final in five years and the third year in a row the Premiership has supplied three teams in the final four.In the past Man U has had Arsenals number when it comes to important cup ties, Arsenal never really being able to finish them off when its really counted. With a number of injuries in defence, will Wengers young guns be able to stand up and be counted in the same way they where last night against the rampant Red Devils?
